Yes, that's right, you can put the really slow and painful emulator on steroids – but only if you have an Intel CPU. If that's not enough speed, you can also usually overclock the processor safely (Intel tests at higher clock speeds than stated, unlike other manufacturers) – no overheating or additional cooling required (unless you live in a really hot climate) within that 10% tolerance zone!

If your Android development machine using an Intel CPU, this is a great way to really improve the performance of the Android emulator… so much so that I wish my desktop had an Intel CPU. It makes the Android emulator faster than many devices, and feel a lot like the iOS simulator. Well worth setting up, if you can.
