Wind lenses double wind turbine efficiency – where can we go from here?

Why didn't engineers think of this before? I'm a bit skeptical on wind energy in a farm as small as the simulation shows powering Japan's electric needs, but the wind lens is a very sensible idea.

I also wonder if the horizontal wind turbine design allows itself to adapt to add a wind lens as well. The reason for the horizontal wind turbine being that it can operate closer to the ground and on a smaller scale than a massive wind turbine, allowing it to be potentially used on smaller properties (e.g. installation on roofs of larger civilian buildings, which saves space in terms of an urban planning perspective and reduces the need to transport power large distances).

Doubling or even tripling the efficiency of wind turbines sounds great! We should really consider wind energy´╗┐
