What is Google up to?

Not sure I'd want a device that is 'heavy on location-based services' based on Google technology running in my home – but the mystery shrouding this 'entertainment device' is certainly getting me wondering what this device targets. There are so many aspects of the home that can be exploited – lighting systems, powerline systems, home ambience, home mapping for better 3d projections, not just wifi. What will we be seeing?
