Google closes OpenSocial API

By | January 21, 2012
Shock – or not really. OpenSocial had the potential to make allow developers to make social media platforms into something useful – allowing users to manage their digital identities online. Unfortunately, that goal doesn't line up well with commercial interests of platform owners. So while it certainly is dissapointing to see Google backpedal on what it has started, it's not too surprising. And a ugly reminder that we still are in a corporate-ruled world.
