Stories behind inventions are sometimes fascinating – particularly when they jump from one industry to another to solve similar problems. I wonder if someone can get Givens onto TED about this?

03 People often ask what do they get for the money spent on the Space Program

Here is just one example of how +NASA developed technology is impacting every day life. Apollo Astronauts needed a liferaft that can withstand the choppy waters during retrieval post landing. This unsinkable life raft has been spunoff and helped sailors around the world in some pretty drastic conditions. To date, Givens has sold several thousand of the ballasted inflatable life rafts, and this space-age technology is credited with saving the lives of more than 450 sailors. Thanks to technology transfers from NASA to the public, what began as an effort to keep astronauts secure in the final moments of their journey now keeps thousands of people safe at sea—in any conditions.
