Aesthetics and commonplace objects

By | December 13, 2011

Anything with three holes reminds me about a face. The danish outlet looks almost as if it was smiling. Now, I know that power outlets are commonplace objects, but that doesn't mean they can't be stylish, easy-to-use, and useful at the same time!

I think the high-tech industry has come to realize that exactly that combination of stylish, easy-to-use, and useful is what consumers expect and are willing to pay more to have. I'm not so sure that other industries have caught on to this trend. Maybe it's time for user experience and human interaction experts and intuits flooding every market – not just production industries but also services?
